Abstract: The study was done in order to understand the different salt resistance of the varieties in Iris L ., and togive a theoretical basis for the application of the varieties in saline land .The plant materials of this trial involved four cultivarsof Iris L ., and they were potted .NaCl solution was added into the potted soil,so that the levels of NaCl concentrationwere 0,0 .8 %, 1 .0 %, 1 .2 %。Physiological indexes, such as lost water per day, chlorophyll, osmotic adjustmentsubstances and SOD activity were measured .When the concentration of NaCl was increased, the lost water per day of allcultivars declined, and the higher the NaCl concentration, the bigger the decline ratio ;the rest indexes showed :differentcultivars changed differently, high salt tolerance cultivars raised first, declined then ;low resistance cultivars of salinity declinedall the time .Above all the cultivars,Iris ′Black Gamecock′and Iris sibirica ′Coronation Anthem′showed highersalt resistance than Iris pumila ′Orange Caper′and Iris pumila ′Petit Polka′.
