Abstract: A generic hybridization between Yuan FH 2-1,derived from upland rice(O.sativa)genotype Handao 65/Barnyard grass(E.caudata),and sorghum(S.bicolor) genotype Shennong 133,has been made in which parents all belonged to non-waxy endosperm(NWE) genotypes.A new character of waxy endosperm(WE) was appeared in its progenies of F2,340 WE and 1 372 NWE plants were recorded from a population of total 1712 ones.Inheritance pattern analysis of it indicated the trait was governed by 1 pair of dominant genes inhibiting effect, which was in full accordance with the segregated ratio of 13:3 by ways of χ2 tests. This was obviously different with previous reports WE were governed by 1 pair of recessive genes.
