Abstract: The genetic diversity was detected using RAPD markers in 21 oat genotypes from 8 oat species, and the cluster analysis was undertaken. Using 22 polymorphic 10-mer arbitrary primers against 21 genotypes, a total of 114 fragments were amplified, among which 97( 85. 1% )products were found to be polymorphic. These products were used to calculate genetic distance( GD),and it was indicated that the genetic distances be- tween different species were generally larger than those within every species. The result of cluster analysis by us- ing UPGMA method showed that the 21 genotypes may be classified into 5 groups which could be divided into 8 subgroups further, which was consistent with the classification result by using the traditional method. It was concluded that RAPD markers can be used on the studies of genetic relationships and classification of oat.
