Behavioral Response of Trichogramma chi lonis to Extracts from Mung Bean and Cotton Plants

Abstract: A total of 145 volat ile ex tracts were made from 12 varieties of mung bean and 5 varieties of co ttonplants using the cent rifugation,distillation,condensation and head-space methods.The responses of Tr ichogramma chilonis females to the plant ex tracts w ere evaluated using a 4-source olfactometer chamber.Extractsmade using the head-space method show ed the g reatest number of sig nificant responses of wasps.Synomoneswere mainly f rom creeping ty pe mung bean plants.Leaf ex tracts f rom creeping type mung bean were themost at tractive.Differences occurred betw een mung bean plants of different ages.Tr ichogr amma ostr inia andT.chi lonis show ed similar att ractiveness to creeping type mung bean leaf ex tracts.T.chi lonis wasps did notshow any response to non-volatile ex tracts.
