Abstract: 21 upland cotton varieties were used to analysis the influence of cotton verticillium wilt on lint yield and the main factors affecting disease index. The result indicated that the higher disease index a variety was,the larger loss of lint yield it had.The disease index depended on mainly both the diseased time and disease developing speed. There was statistical significance of the diseased time and the disease developing speed among varieties. These two factors were stable in different years. The disease indexes of varieties were varying with growth because of the diseased time and the disease developing speed. The variety of cotton with the later diseased time and the lower disease developing speed was the ideal parent material of disease-resisted breeding.
