Abstract: In order to have a further study on the law of growth and differentia-tion in cotton axillary bud, the suitable chemical controling substances are selected purposively for adjusting and controling differentiation of axillary bud. We have studied the chemical constituents of the leaf bud and flower bud (blend bud) of cotton from 1986 to 1988.The research results are as follows: 1 .The leaf bud contains seventeen kinds of amino acid, six kinds of carbohydrate, two kinds of alkaloid and one kind of organic acid. The flower bud contains eleven kinds of amino acid, eight kinds of corbohydrate, two kinds of alkaloid and two kinds of organic acid. 2 .The content of inorganic elements in the leaf bud is higher than that in the flower bud.3 .The total amount of amino acids and carbohydrates in the flower bud is higher than that in the leaf bud.According to analytic results, kinds of amino acid in the leaf bud should be controled when adjusting and controling differentiation of the axillary bud that the complexation of amino acids with metallicions would be decraesed, and then content of inorganic elements as nutrient composition in flower bud Would be increased.
