Abstract: The growth performance of weanling crossbred pigs was studied. Sixty-four weanling crossbred pigs (similar weight) were selected and randomly divided into one of four groups with eight pigs per pen and two replications per group. Weanling crossbred pigs fed with conventional piglets feed (corn-bran-soybean meal) was used as control group, and the dietary soybean meal was substituted with highly concentrated potato protein for different concentration, which was fed other pigs as the treatment groups for the 42-day experiment. For different periods of feed intake, in addition to the fourth, fifth, sixth week period, the trial group had significant difference with group I (P<0.05) in the rest period. From the whole period results, there is significant differences between the trial group I and group Ⅲ. Feed intake and daily gain decreased gradually. The amount of potato protein had a slight effect on feed-gain ratio (P >0.05).In all trial groups, the diarrhea rate was not significant (P> 0.05) and the apparent digestibility of crude fiber increased with the increase of the amount of potato protein. Compared with the control, the number of Lactic acid bacteria was significantly different(P <0.05) and the number of Escherichia coli and Yeast was not significantly different (P >0.05). The amount of TP,ALB,GLB,CHE of trial group I and GPT of trial group Ⅲ were higher than other groups. The amount of UN,Gln,Glu and the activity of GOT of all groups were not significantly different (P >0.05). The results showed that there was an significant effect on the pigs growth performance by feeding with the protein feedstuff substituting 8%dietary soybean meal.
