Abstract: Effects of ultrasound and coating on seed germination and root growth of Indica were studied by u- sing the ultrasonic (0,1,5,10 min) and seed coating (Non-coated, treat before and after coating on dry seeds ) treatment to Guixiangzhan and Huahang 31, in the simulation experiment in phytotron. The results were as follows: Ultrasonic treatment (1,5,10 min) of dry Indica seeds (Guixiangzhan and Huahang 31 ) significant improved the germination rate and the germination index. It could get the high germination rate at treating 10 min(Guixiangzhan) and 5 min (Huahuang 31) ultrasound. Seed coating treatment increased the germination rate and germination index in the 60 and 90 days after treatment, Ultrasonic treatment of coating seeds increased the germination rate and ger- mination index within 90 days after treatment; Ultrasonic treatment also promoted the growth of the total root length and increased root surface area and root volume, but it could restrain the root growth when the treated time excee- ding the maximum.
