Abstract: 13 male sterile lines and their restorers were adopted, the F2 generation from the cross of 130B ×1141B was used to study the sugar accumulation and inheritance in sorghum stalk .Results showed that the sugar content of the stalks among male sterile lines and between the male sterile lines and theirs restorers were different .Lower sugar content was observed at the middle milking stage in the stalk of restorers and some of the male sterile lines with high grain bearing percentage for theirs unstable male sterile characters .There was a higher sugar content in those normal male sterile lines at this stage .When developed to later milking stage, the sugar content in some of the male sterile lines and majority of the restorers were low .The F2 population showed that the inheritance of sugar content and the juice content in sorghum stalk were fit the single gene additive -dominant effect model and the dominant effects were negative .The gene heritability of sugar content and juice content in sorghum stalk were 62 .97 % and 55 .83 %.We suggested that choose the plant with higher sugar content at later milking stage and in the higher progeny population were credible in sorghum breeding of high sugar content .
