Abstract: Quantitative trait locus(QTL) controlling rice leaf characters were analyzed by using backcross recombinant inbred lines(BILs) to explore genetic mechanism of rice leaf characters. The BILs were derived from a cross between Sasanishiki(japonica) and Habataki(indica).Fourteen QTLs were detected, including three leaf length, three leaf width, three leaf area and five leaf thickness QTL,and they distributed on the 1,2,5,6,7,11 and 12 chromosomes, explained 8.65%-24.45% phenotypic variations. One QTL cluster for the leaf width, leaf area of the flag leaf and top second leaf was revealed in region R566B-R1888 of chromosome 6,which explained more than 16.00% of phenotypic variance by a single QTL.Related analysis showed that the leaf length, width and area were very significant positive correlation, but that had no significant correlation with leaf thickness.Locus controlling leaf thickness were not in the same or similar section of chromosome that control leaf length, leaf width, leaf area.
