Abstract: Three castrate male water buffaloes were fed with hay in spring and rice straw in summer.Serial blood samples were collected from jugular catheters every fifteen minutes in the two periods of nine o.clock to twelve thirty in spring and twenty-one to zero thirty on the two seasons.Secret on profile of growth hormone(GH)in water buffalo was as following: The pulse frequency, baseline, height and amplitude was 1.143±0.06 no./h,14.467±0.46 ng/mL,18.719±0.76 ng/mL,41247±0.51 ng/mL,respectively.The concentration level of baseline in daytime was significantly higher than that in night. The pulse frequency in daytime were also higher than that in night and the pulse height in daytime was higher than the same item in night. The pulse amplitude was higher in daytime than in night.Compared the characteristics of GH secretion in different season, all the pulse baseline, height and amplitude fed with hay were significantly higher than those fed with rice straw.
