Abstract: On the base of analysis to the meiosis of pollen mother cell for ten different strains of triticale, the relationships between meiosis behaviour and uniformity of the population (represented by confounding rate) and/or the fruit-bearing percentage were studied. Results showed that the behaviour abnormality of the triticale meiosis appeared quite often and the frequeucy lay between 9.3%-59.0%.There existed higher significant positive correlatian between the non-staple bivalent pollen mother cell frcpuency and the confounding rate, but significant negative correlation between the former and the fruit-bearing percentage. There was no significant correlation between the irregular ancuploid frequency and the confounding rate and/or the fruit-bearing percentage; but significant negative correlation bctwwen confounding rate and fruit-bearing percentage. Therefore, the non-staple bivalent frequency may be an important criterion for evaluating the hybrid strains, which is of the key significance in breeding practice for such agronomic character as fruit-bearing rate.
