Abstract: The major sesame diseases in Henan are damping-off, wilt, mosaic, charcoal rot and leaf spot diseases, The epidemiology of these diseases was described, Results of identification showed that Yuzhi 1,Henan 1 and Jizhi 1 were sesame varieties resistant to the diseases, Seed treatment with carbendazim at 3 g/kg seeds performed best in controlling seedling diseases, Spraying with carbendazim in July and August was most effective for reducing incidence of charcoal rot and leaf spot, while spraying with omethoate in July was effective for controlling aphides and the mosaic disease. Application of all these measures in the same field was more effective for reducing these diseases and increasing yields.
