Abstract: The mean value of tatol Fe of the soils in Hebei is 2.71%,lower than that of the whole contry( 3%)and the world(3.8%). Arerage available-Fe (DTPA-Fe) gets to 8.2ppm. One sixth cultivated soil of this province has a lower available iron value than 4.5ppm.Nearly two thirds is between 4.5-10ppm.This paper has discussed the influences on the growth-dedine of soil iron, of soil parent material, soil texture, organic matter, CaCo3,etc.The availability of Fe to plant is closely related with manganese. Plants on soil which has plantiful manganese suply may have a symptom of iron lack caused by the out of control of Mn/Fe rate.
