Abstract: A comparative study with five aphid species Myzus persicae,Aphis gossypii,Lipaphis erysimi,Aphis craccivora and Megoura viciae were carried out in laboratory and field experiments to evaluate spread of CMV Subgroup I YQ and subgroupⅡ ZL isolates in tobacco. Both YQ and ZL showed variability in their transmission efficiency by the five aphids. And the overall transmission efficiencies of the subgroupⅡ ZL were significantly high in the field transmission with the five mixed aphid species.Hopefully, our study will aid in understanding implications of the spread between CMV subgroups, and will lead to development of more specific control measures.

Key words: Cucumber mosaic virus, Subgroup isolate, Transmission efficiency
