Abstract: When exposed to high temperature stress of 35 e for 60 h, root vitality of two cyclamen cult ivars decreased sharply and at the same t ime malondialdehyde(MDA) perox ide of lipids in cell membrane began to rise. With the increase of absorpt ion ability in root and the decrease of water content in leaves, the accumulat ion of free proline rose sharply. The act iv ity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) rose first and then drop sharply. T hese chang es correspond to the fact cyclamen stops g row th w hen ex posed to high temperature and enters dormancy w hen its inact iv at ion in root system.
