Abstract: Different kinds of iron have different biological activity, and generate effects on plants differently. The effect of three kinds of iron, FeSO4, EDTA-Fe, AA-Fe, on the growth and physiological and biochemical characteristics of wheat bud was studied by measuring the growth index and malondialdehyde concentration in bud and root of wheat. The results showed that the elongation of wheat bud and root could be promoted by ferric salt at relatively low concentration, while inhibited at high concentration. At the same concentration, inhibition rate of ferric salt on the elongation of wheat root was AA-Fe > FeSO4 > EDTA-Fe. With the concentration of ferric salt increasing, the concentration of malondialdehyde in wheat root and bud increased, but it dropped in FeSO4 and EDTA-Fe treatment when the concentration was very high. The change bound of malondialdehyde concentration in root was wider than in shoot, which indicated that the response degree to ferric salt of root membrane system was greater than that of bud membrane system.
