Abstract: It indicated that when corn was hurt, the body would develop appropriate response to mitigate damage.Us - ing the method of chromometry by ultraviole- t visible spectrophotometer, the effect on the activity of protective enzymes in different resistant maize varieties infected by the gray leaf spot pathogens were analyzed. The results showed that the activ - ity of some protective enzymes changed, including:the activity of POD was increased, the activity of CAT was decreased, both changes of the two enzyme activity were not related with the host resistance; the activity of EST was increased, fur - thermore both the increase rate and extent of the enzyme activity in disease -resistant varietieswere higher than that in sus - ceptible varieties; the activity of SOD was increased, the increase rate and extent of the activity in disease -susceptible va - rieties were higher than that in resistant varieties; the activity of PPOwas increased, the elevation rate of the PPO activity in susceptible varieties were higher, rather than in middling and high disease -resistant varieties.
