Abstract: Seeds of Brassica napus lines 761 and 532, were irradiated by 60Coγ rays with doses of 800, 1000, 1200 Gy, respectively. Our objectives were to investigate 60Coγ rays influence on rapeseed seed germination rate, seed quality and main agronomic characters. The results showed that germination rate of treated seeds were decreased with the increase of irradiation doses, 532 was more tolerant to 60Coγ rays than line 761. It was observed that significant inhibition of plant height and biomass occurred in plants of M1 generation. A number of quantitative traits were investigated to verify the effects of radiation and the responses to 60Coγ rays treatment varied with traits considered. Of them primary branch height seemed most detectable in irradiation effects, plant height and primary branch height in M2 individuals were observed decrease, but no significant change of 1000-seed weight and seed number per siliqua. Treatment of 800-1000 Gy 60Coγ rays irradiation increased oil content in different degrees, the oleic acid and erucic acid content have distinctly changed.
