Study on Photosynthetic Characteristics of the Seedling Stage of Different Maize Hybrids in West Mountainous Regions of Hebei Province

Abstract: Photosynthetic test of the seedling stage of maize selected six different maize varieties studied in westmountainous regions of Hebei Province. The paper explored their relationships by measuring the chlorophyll content,net photosynthetic rate ( Pn) , response curve of light intensity and photosynthesis ( Pn-PAR) , transpiration rate( Tr) , stomatal conductance ( Gs) , intercellular CO2 concentration ( Ci) and crop water use efficiency ( WUE) . Theresults showed that the chlorophyll contents of seeding leaf of the different varieties were divided into two groups. Onegroup that the chlorophyll contents of the varieties were higher was Xingkang 2, Chengyu 5, Taiyu 2 and Ludan 981 ,the other was Jundan 20 and Zhengdan 958. The chlorophyll contents in group were not significant, and the chlorophyllcontents between groups were a significant level. When natural light range was (2 526 ± 23 ) μmol /( m2· s) , Pn ofChengyu 5 is 8. 5% and 8. 4% higher than that of Jundan 20 and Zhengdan 958 respectively, but Pn differences didnot significant between different species. With photosynthetic photon flux density ( PPFD) increased , Pn, Tr, Gs andWUE of different maize varieties were the alternate increasing trend, and they were a positive relationship betweeneach other. Ci of different maize varieties were the alternate downward trend with PPFD increased. When PPFD was2 317 μmol /( m2· s) , Pn, Tr, Gs, Ci and WUE of different maize varieties does not completely consistent.
