Abstract: A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of transient waterlogging stress on the activity?of carbon-nitrogen metabolism key enzymes and the content of the main carbonitride of flue-cured tobacco CV. Yunyan97 during maturing stage. The results indicated that in the middle leaves of waterlogged flue-cured tobacco at the?maturity, after waterlogging treatment for three days, the nitrate reductase activity with the decreased range 20. 39%?was lower, the invertase and amylase activity with the increased range 33. 14% and 56. 70% respectively was higher, compared with that in control treatment;the content of starch, total nitrogen and nicotine decreased by 2. 90 percent,0. 74 percent and 0. 77 percent separately, but the content of total sugar and reducing sugar respectively increased by 1. 33 percent and 0. 46 percent. The above results showed that the physiological metabolism of flue-cured?tobacco at the maturity was disordered, nitrogen metabolism wakened, and the accumulation of carbohydrate decreased under waterlogging stress. The conclusion of the study was benefiticial to reveal the mechanism of influence?on the growth and quality of mature flue-cured tobacco under waterlogging stress from the physiological and biochemical perspective.
