Abstract: A study of storage of fallen trees and effect of fallen trees on regeneration of PICEAFir forest in Changbai mountains. The study revealed that the volume of dead woods in primitive PICEA-Fir forest was 241.7 m~3/hm~2;the volume of dead woods was 66.gm~3/hm~2 in over-cutting PICEA-Fir forest. The number of seedlings on dead wood was declining wih the size classes growing. The number of dead woods was occupied 96% and the vomule was occupied 97.2% of Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ decay classes in primitive PICEA-Fir forest. The dead woods only exit in Ⅲ and Ⅴ decay classes in over-cutting PICEA-Fir forest, the number of dead woods was occupied 79.4% and volume was occupied 70.8% of V decay classes. The number of seedlings was mostly accumulated on large diameter portion and center of dead woods.
