Abstract: The author applied the theoretical volume equation(TVE)that was derived by Inoue and Kurokawa to coniferous species. The sample trees were collected from four different regions:artificial larix in Sai Hanba(Hebei),artificial larix in Suge River(Inner Mongolia),natural secondary Pinus sylvestris in Honghuerji(Inner Mongolia),artificial Pinus sylvestris in Narisitai Mountain. The individual numbers are 795,45,49 and 20 respectively. The author compared the accuracy and precision of TVE with those of empirical volume equation(EVE)for each region. It could be judged that TVE is more efficient. In conclusion, the result of the study will support the universality and fitness of TVE.

Key words: Theoretical volume equation (TVE), Empirical volume equation (EVE), Larix Pinus sylvestris
