Abstract: Two varieties of rice were used. One is Dongxiang wild rice (Dongye)(Oryza sativa f.spontanea Roschev) which is chilling resistant, and the other is 6225(Oryza sativa indica)which is chilling sensitive. The results indicated that the increase of ABA content and the decrease of GA1 content are greatly related to the chilling resistance of the rice seedlings. The reason of high chilling resistance of Dongye is that its ABA and GA1 levels have a much prompter response than that of 6225 to chilling stress.
