Abstract: The main yield-influencing factors for red bean, such as density, N fertilizer, P fertilizer, and sowing time, were studied on the Ll6(45) orthogonal table design. Results showed that the yield-increasing effects of sowing time and P fertilizer appl cation were highly significant, while those of density and N fertilizer application were significant. The optimum sowing time ranged from the 15th to 25th of June and the optimum density was 7000-8000 seedlings permu. The amount of P fertilizer application should not exceed 6.6 kg permu while the N application should not exceed 3 kg permu, In Tianjin suburbs, from 1988 to 1990, demonstration and extension of the above results benefited a total of 60 000mu of land and yield was increased by 30-50%.

Key words: Red bean, Ll6(45) orthogonal table, Density, N fertilizer, P fertilizer, Sowing time
