Abstract: Field ecology of three intercropped sunflower with sweetclover patterns was studied in 1987 in Wuyuan County,to inquire into the feasibility of practice and the yield advantage of intercropping patterns. The results indicaded that there was a mutual compensation of leaf dispersion and light distribution in intercropping colony, extinction coefficient was lower than in sole cropping. In these intercropping systems the microclimate was improved, the soil nitrogen cycle was very well, the soil salinity daclined, and the gross output value was raised. So these intercropping patterns could be adapted to improve land ecological environment and to develop livestock farming in this area.
