Abstract: Test results of 1986-1987 indicated that the long-effect nitrogen fertilizer CDU from Japan had increased the yield of muskmelon significantly. In loam sandy soils, application of CDU convert to pure N 12kg/mu as basic fertilizer increased yield 10-l7% higher than that the equal amount of normal urea, and that the ratio of early maturing melons rose upto 80%, so there was a good economic effect. The results also showed that CDU could retard the growth of fungi, promote the growth of actinomyces, bacteria, azotobactria, and accelerate tne growth of the plant.
