Abstract: In order to confirm the proper ratio of base fertilizer to topdressing for new rice variety Xindao 18 cultivation, the inorganic fertilizer experiment was conducted for 3 years with 6 treatments of different ratios. The re- sult showed that, when the ratio of base fertilizer to topdressing was 4 : 6 and 3 : 7, the spike number, grain number per spike and 1000-grain weight reached to 3.45 × 10^6/ha and 3.48 × 10^6/ha, 158.7,158.6,27.9 27.2 g, respec- tively, the yield advantage being obvious compared to other four treatments. Besides, Xindao 18 had good milling and appearance quality when the N ratio of base fertilizer to topdressing was 3 : 7,and also presented the high head rice rate, low chalkiness degree and amylose content, and thick gel consistency. It was concluded that the appropriate N ratio of base fertilizer to topdressing for Xindao18 was 3 : 7, giving a theoretical yield of 9 584.7 kg/ha and high comprehensive quality.
