Abstract:
Of the wheat aphide, the ear aphid is the main factor that affects the output of wheat. However, the average number of ear aphides does not reflect the resistant level of the wheat variety. It was found through a 5-year study that the loss of 1000-kernel weight of wheat might reflect the resisiatant level of wheat to aphides, and could be used as a resistance index in wheat breeding for resistance to aphides. This technique is stable and reliable and is applicable to general breeding work.
