Abstract: Seed protein for 54 cultivars of common bean derived from 14 countries was analysed by SDS gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Results sho-wed most protein protomers have their molecular weight variation which distri-buted in 8 regions of whole prof,le.No correlation has been found between seed pro-tein composition and the color of seed coat.Except 3 cultivars, the cultivars with Contender-type phaseolin have their erect stem, and the culitvars with Sanilac-type phaseolin have their voluble stem.T herefore, seed protein profi-les reported here can be used for cultivar identification as well as prediction of other properties of common bean in plant breeding.
