Effects of Nitrogen Level on Chromoplast Pigment and Neutral Aroma Components in the Leaves of Flue-cured Tobacco

Abstract: Chromoplast pigment and neutral aroma components is an important factor affecting the quality of flue-cured tobacco aroma.In order to improve the quality of flue-cured tobacco aroma by taking the reasonable control measures of nitrogen,the changes of chromoplast pigment and neutral aroma components with the different amount of nitrogen was studied in this paper.The results showed that the contents of chlorophyll and carotenoid in tobacco leaves were increased with the increasing of nitrogen level,but decreased when tobacco leaves growed to mature.Compared with K326,the leaves of 8306 possessed lower content of chlorophyll,and higher content of carotenoid.The total contents of neutral aroma components increased with the increasing of nitrogen level in the flue-cured leaves of 8306,K326 showed the inverse trend.There were higher significant positive correlation between the content of carotenoid in mature fresh tobacco leaves and it′s degradation products in the cured leaves.
