Abstract: The research was to study the epidemiology of co-infection of porcine circovirus type 2 and Porcinereproductive and respiratory syndrome virus in parts of China during 2009 - 2010. A total of 227 tissue and serumsamples of diseased pigs obtained from Jiangsu, Anhui, Shanghai, Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangxi provincesof China during 2009 - 2010 were detected for PCV2 and PRRSV by PCR or RT-PCR. The results showed that thepositive rate of PCV2a, PCV2b and PRRSV were 15. 9% , 44. 5% and 45. 8% respectively. 17 samples were positive for PCV2a and PRRSV, 50 samples were positive for PCV2b and PRRSV, 10 samples were positive for PCV2a,PCV2b and PRRSV, and the corresponding co-infection rate were 7. 5% , 22. 0% and 4. 4% respectively. All theseresults indicated that the PCV2 and PRRSV infection were widespread and co-infection of PCV2 and PRRSV wasprevalent in parts of China during 2009 - 2010. The high co-infection rate also increased the difficulty of preventionand controlling diseases of swine.
