Abstract: The data of 4 populations with 2010 litters including Erhualian pigs,Large White, and their F1 and BC,were used to detect if the prolificacy of Erhualian pig was influenced by major genes through within family variance heterogeneity and major gene index. The detection results indicated that the prolificacy of Erhualian pig was influenced by major genes.

Key words: Erhualian pigs, Prolificacy, Major gene detection
