Abstract: Cold typal wheat is a wheat with continuous lower canopy temperature, which has been discovered in the late eighties. It has a longer leaf functional period, shorter distance between times, and slower speed with the awn′s yellowing than those of other typal wheats. The phenomenal characteristics of the wheat have close relation to the metabolic function, which is more excellent in protein nitrogen content, CS, transpiration rate, CAT activity, MDA content and net photosynthetic rate, etc. than those of other typal wheats. Cold typal wheat with good metabolic function can be distinguished more accurately according to canopy temperature and phenomenal characteristics.

Key words: Canopy temperature, Cold typal wheat, Phenomenal characteristic, Metabolic function
