Abstract: The new gemplasms of the sweet corn which were transferred and bred by our country were used as experimental materials to study the biochemical constitution, the heterotic rate and genetic control. The results showed:① The new gemplasms had high nutritive value and taste quality and were similar as the protogene type in each biochemical constitution. ② The heterotic rates were negative orientation on the most of quality character, but it was evidently different from the growth vigour character. ③ The external character and the content of sugar were controlled by a pair of recessive gene in the normal sweet, brittle sweet and supersweet corn.
