Abstract: The mutants were successfully induced from the anthers of tobacco variety NC89 highly sensitive to tobacco brown spot disease by using the double-medium in which Al-ternaria alternata was inoculated. The resistance of these mutants to Alternaria alternata was tested in vitio. The results indicated that 70% of these mutants showed resistance to tobacco brown spot to varying degrees, while some of them were of high resistance.
