Abstract: General and specific combining ability were studied in a scmi-diallel crosses of 7 varieties(3 male sterile lines, 3 exotic cultivars and 1 local cultivar). Danbackggae and Ba. Sindos had the highest gca variance, and ms -2×86-1, followed by ms-2×Danbackggac ana ms-l×Yuzhi-1 had the highest yield. These combinations were also high in sea variance. Results showed that in order to select an ideal hybrid combination, the diversities in origin or in genetic background of the parents, one of the parents with high gca variance and high sea variance in synthetic characters should be considered.

Key words: Sesame(Sesamum indicnm L.), Combining ability, Heterosis
