Abstract:
Priming with a new type of primer,Sodium Poly-Propenate(SPP),could effectively prevent soybean from imbibing damage. The experiment indicated that after the seeds were primed with SPP.the broken cotyledon did not occur, the number of abnormal seedlings was decreased, and the primed seeds were more vigorous. The structure and function of the membrane system of the primed seeds was improved, which resulted in the decrease of the leakage from seed cells. At an early period of the treatment, the rate of water-uptaking by seeds during imbibition in water was 4 times higher than that in SPP priming. This result indicated that there would be close relationship between the prevention of imbibing damage and the decrease of the rate of water-uptaking by SPP.The mechanism of the prevention of imbibing damage with SPP priming was discussed.
