Abstract:
Oedaleus asiaticusB.-Bienko(Orthoptera: Acrididae),one of the most dominant grasshoppers on steppes and agriculture-animal husbandry ecotones in northern China, occurred seriously in many areas and migrated in swarm in recent years. Here,we studied the electrophysiological responses of male and female adults to volatiles from female adult feces by EAG bioassay. The results showed the main individual components of fecal volatile from female adults,1-Hydroxyaceton-e,2-methyl-2-Propena,2,3-Butanedione,2-methyl-Butanal,3-methyl-Butanal and synthetic blend of five components were all electrophysiological active to adult O. asiaticus. 1-Hydroxyaceton-e and 2,3 -Butanedione stimulated the male adults much stronger responses than the female ones with 1-Hydroxyacetone evoked the strongest responses from antennae of male adults at lower relative concentrations(≤1 /1 000) ; whereas 2- methyl-2-Propena evoked the female adults stronger responses at higher relative concentrations(1 /100) as a result of the response of female adults getting stronger with the concentration increasing. The synthetic blend of five components stimulated the strongest responses from antennae of male adults at lower concentration gradients.
