Abstract: Activities and isozymes of peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were investigated with leaves of three peanut cultivars with different susceptibility to PStV after inoculation. For all tested cultivars, infection of PStV resulted in an increase in POD activity.Associated with symptom development ,the POD activity increased greatly and additional isoperoxidase bands appeared while the M 2 bands (Rf=0 38), existing in leaves of healthy peanut plants, became slight or disappeared in infected plants leaves. In the first few days after treatment, SOD activity in leaves of infected plants increased.Eight days after inoculation, SOD activity in the high susceptible infected plants was lower, while 12 days after inoculation, SOD activity in the tolerant infected plants was a little lower than those of healthy ones. There is no difference in the numbers of SOD isozyme bands among treatments, but the M 2 bands (Rf=0 40)were slighter in infected plants than that in healthy plants.
