Abstract: A series of events during the development of the megaspore and the female gametophyte of Panicum miliaceum were studied by means of the regular histo-cytological and histochemical technique. The following is the main conclusions.The gynoecium is digynia, one locule, containing one hemianatropous ovule which is bitegminal and tenuinucellate.
