Abstract: In order to promote the studies estimating soil CO2 efflux in Ejina and investigate the response of soil respiration to environmental factors, soil respiration rate daily variations of populus euphratica forest was investigated in September(growing season) and November(dormant season) of 2015,in addition, daily soil CO2 emissions were calculated using observed and estimated values based on measurements of soil respiration and environmental factors. The results showed that the observed average daily soil CO2 emissions in September and November(171.18,37.27 mmol/m2) were slightly higher than the estimated values(168.91,37.16 mmol/m2). The daily mean soil CO2 efflux in November(0.94 μmol/(m2·s)) was 22% of that in September(4.32 μmol/(m2·s)). Q10 values for Populus euphratica forest in September and November were 1.61 and 1.99,respectively. Soil organic matter content, soil total nitrogen content and C/N ratio were correlated with the amount of soil CO2 emission in positive trends. Application of a two-variable interactive function suggested a better representation of the dependence of soil CO2 efflux on soil temperature and soil water content than single factor functions using either soil temperature or soil water content. It is inferred that Populus euphratica forest would be adaptive to climate change when assessing variation in carbon budget and responses to climate change combining precipitation change and global warming.
