Abstract: In order to screen drugs efficiently against Eperythrozoonosis suis,an optimal mouse model for EH infection was to be established and applied for studies on drug sensibility. The experiment was based on orthogonal test with 3 factors which each had 3 disparate levels. At first, the optimal infection method, pathway of infection and dosage of inoculation was determined by indexes such as infection rate, peak period of bacteremia and clinical sympton of each experimental group. Then the optimal model was applied to evaluate ten of antibiotics and antiprotozoan agents, containing terramycin, tetracycline, berenil, artemisinin, imidocarb and so on,by the test of drug sensitivity. The result of ANOVA showed that Kunming mice, which were in the state of immunosuppression, went into the peak period of bacteremia immediately within 3 days, when they were inoculated by purified Eperythrozoonosis suis through caudal vein with the dosage of 0. 1 mL. The test of drug sensitivity revealed that berenil, imidocarb and artemisinin had the strongest activity against Eperythrozoonosis suis. Thus, the established model should be used to screen drugs efficiently against Eperythrozoonosis suis.
