Abstract: Fifteen Yorkshire lactat ing sows were used to investigate the change in feed intake and black fat thicknessof lactat ing sows in a whole lactation period. The result showed that the feed intake and black fat thickness were increasedquadratically with increased lactat ion phase. The feed intake of sows in lactation period was correlated negatively with itsblack fat thickness( P< 0. 05). From what discussed above, the result indicated that the accuracy would be better whenthe lactation phase was regarded as independent variable to build regression equation. The similar result was obtained bypredict ing feed intake of sows with the black fat thickness, too.
