Abstract: Chromosome C banding procedure study on diploid oat-Avena strigosa was performed. The results showed that C banding stained with Giemsa and Wright mixture was the best,C banding of seven pairs of chromosomes of A.strigosa was clear and abundant, each pair chromosome had two telomeric bands, and the phenotype of each pair of chromosomes was distinct from that of others. The C banding feature of each pair of chromosomes was analysized. In addition, the significance of oat chromosome C banding and the factors affecting the results of C banding were discussed.
