Abstract: The potentiality of soil potassium supply in Shanxi province is studied in the present paper. The results obtained are summarized as follows. The distribution of slow-acting potassium in Shanxi Province is. the content of slow-acting potassium grad ually increases from north to south on loess hills of the west part, in the basin of the middle part and on hills of the east part in Shanxi province. The process of slow-acting potassium release is in agreement with the power regression(Y=Ax-b). The capacity of the slow-acting potassium release is. Baode red soil>Wucheng loess>heilu soil, Lou soil(drab soil)>Sand cultivated loessal soil, but the intensity of the slow-acting potassium release is the opposite. The accumulation of slow-acting potassium release gradually increases from north to south just as the capacity of slow acting potassium release of different soil types.
