Abstract:
Meadow moth <Loxostege stictialis L.runs intermittently wild with long periodicity in Chian.Their life history and distribution consisting of migration and diapause were given on the basis of some studies, experiments and field investigation. They occurs on northeastern slant from latitude 37°N to 50°N and from longetude 108′E to 118°E.A main overwintering area is located between latitude 39°N to 43°N and longitude 110°E to 116°E.Where the last generation larvae in autumn formed large population of diapause of overwintering, then the adults in spring migrate and become the source of outbreak over north and northeast China. All of distribution areas out of the main overwintering area are called dispersing areas, where the larvae in autumn are very less and overwintering population is small even though during the abundant period. The natural condition of diapause for overwintering in the main overwintering area has been expounded. The observation by radar has proved that the masses of moth migrated downwind.
