Abstract: Characters of corn hybrid population growth types at IV evolution stage and its evolution characters and trend in Hebei-Shandong-Henan summer corn plantiug zone were analyzed in this paper. The results showed that the basic characters of the evolution stage were: well-knit or half-knit plant type, optimum ear leave size, less branch on male, better spotted diseases and lodging resistance, long grain, high rate of grain production. The evolution characters were mainly determinated by structure of ears and grains, the first leave area and growth period duration. Ear length will be stable. Row numbers of each ear, ear width, hundred grain weight and grain number of each row, the first leave area and plant height will show an obvious sustainable evolution status. Such characters as earlier maturity, more gran numbers of each row and higher plant are the development trend of the corn hybird. The population growth type at IV evolution stage is close to transferring stage.
