Abstract: The species and distribution as well as population densities of root-knot nematodes(Meloidogyne spp.) were investigated in Hebei province. The results showed that the species occured in Hebei include M incognita,M hapla and M.arenaria.M incognita is widly spread in Hebei and causes a serious damage to the vegetable production. The highest density of this nematode in soil reach to 50 second stage juveniles per gram soil.It maily causes damage to cucumber and tomato in the protected fields.M hapla and M arenaria only partially distributed in Hebei.M hapla maily causes damage to peanut and Dioscorea opposita while M arenaria only causes yield loss to peanut and cucumber. The population densitiy of M hapla and M arenaria are relatively lower, and the highest density of those nematodes in soil reach to 10 second stage juveniles per gram soil.
