Abstract: A new technique was developed to detect Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris in Brassica seeds. Compared to the commonly used washing test, this technique had shown to be more reliable and economical for routine screening. The technique described here was especially useful under conditions of low infection and in cases where only small amounts of material were available. Although a longer incubation time was required for this technique, the actual labor involved was much lower than that of necessarily required for other methods.
